My Favorite Guild Wars Campaign

There have been four Guild Wars campaigns in all, starting with Prophecies and ending with Eye of the North. Everyone has their favorite, and figured we should have thread discussing the matter.
I've always been most fond of Prophecies. The scale of the story starting with pre-searing, leading up to the final battle is nothing short of extraordinary. I haven't played through the final mission in quite some time (probably in about 4 1/2 years, so things might have changed), but I remember it being so difficult and requiring some of the craziest team dynamics I had seen in a game up until that time. Just could never be recaptured.
I liked Factions, I thought the whole battle between Kurzick/Luxon dynamic was pretty cool. And at the time was an interesting way of dividing the player base against itself. My problem with Factions is the final boss fight was lackluster. I think Shiro had one skill that was devastating and the rest didn't match up.|||I voted Prophecies first…but Nightfall is a close second for me.|||Definitely Nightfall. Great story, and I loved the introduction of the Heroes. Not quite sure what I'd vote second, as I like both Prophecies and EOTN a lot (Prophecies has a better story, but the graphics in some regions in EOTN are terrific, and it brought us the new Asura and Norn races !). For me Factions is definitely last. I do like the Ritualists, but I wasn't too fond of the Factions story, the Kurzick/Luxon alliance thing, Shiro, or the irritating Mhenlo.

After reading more about the Guardian, it seems like one of those Flaky tactitioners.

Watching the Pvp from Gamescon and PAX, I have seen a lot of good Guardians. One of the Devs plays a very “tanky” Guardian keeping himself alive. He was doing really well soaking up dmg while capturing points.
What you aren’t realizing is, sure maybe Guardians aren’t the best 1v1… but thats why Pvp isnt balanced around that. It is balanced around Team Play, and that is where the guardian shine. They can disable one of their own passives to buff their teammates and can use Wards and Symbols to keep enemies away from their squishier allies while using Boons and Buffs to power them up.
I forsee the guardian being almost a must have in PvP. they are just so supportive and so helpful to allies to pass up.

For competitive PvP it is not going to include any power advancement, it is going to include cosmetic advancement. So you’ll earn Glory in PvP and then you’ll use that to buy super cool armor. All PvP players start out with the exact same, low-level looking armor. It’s all statistically the same, but then as you gain Glory you can be like, OK now I have this badass armor, and people will know that guy is really good because he has that super awesome armor.
The thing that we really wanted to do was make it so that you didn’t feel like someone had an advantage over you because they’ve played longer in this type of PvP. We wanted to make it so that you felt like, hey I have the exact same chance because it’s going to be skill-based. But we wanted to give people something that they could work towards, so that’s where we’ve got the cosmetic stuff, and there are titles or achievements that people can earn in PvP as well.
Glad to be of assistance. As for the release date. They have announced that closed beta will start towards the end of the year, after that they will take time to fix or change whatever came up during the closed beta testing. Then the open beta will start, after which they will again take time to do fixes/changes. And only then will the game be considered ready for release. So I definitely wouldn’t expect it this year. My personal estimate is around Q2 2012.

Unfortunately for me i concentrated too much on being a GW2 Fangirl and not enough on playing through GW to get tons of hom points.
Wondered if anyone here still runs these things and if they do could i come along to build up my hom points for gw2′s release.
In return, i can feature you in a youtube video.. or.. on my fansite website.. or.. im not sure. Whatever you require.
I’m still playing GW when I have the time. see also the last couple of posts in this thread for details on my current status.
A few pieces of advise:
1. I assume you already have Prophecies. If you haven’t done so already, create a new character in Pre-Searing and level him up to 20. There’s a daily quest in Pre-Searing Ascalon City that gives 1000xp a day… takes less than half an hour a day, and will give you the Legendary Defender of Ascalon title for your HoM.
2. Get your existing L20 character over to Nightfall (take the Sunspears in Kryta quest from Lionguard Figo in Lion’s Arch) and run through the campaign with that one. By doing all campaigns with the same character, it’s both easier, and you gain additional titles on that character. Plus, Nightfall will give your character access to heroes (the customizable companions), which can make life a lot easier!
3. As Ruse suggested, try to do the daily Zaishen quests whenever you can, to gain various bonus points for your HoM.

Right now, neither the Mesmer nor the Ritualist have a home. Given all the hints we’ve received, and the appearance of the Mesmer in the novels, I think it’s safe to assume that the Mesmer will indeed be the returning profession… but Bahayur is right, they will probably make some major changes to the Mesmer compared to GW1, so it will be a surprise what the new Mesmer plays like.
As for the new one, well, as I described in my original engineer post, the ritualist was designed to be guild wars’ version of the engineer, as we didn’t have guns in GW1. Now that we do, there is no reason for the devs not to create the profession they originally wanted to make… the engineer (and that would fulfil their promise for a ‘home’ for the ritualist). I’m not sure it will actually be called that, and I have even less of an idea how exactly the mechanics of the environmental weapons will work (creating turrets out of thin air would be a bit strange), but given the list I gave above, this would be my guess.
A bit of news: several people who attended the RPC 2011 in Germany (this weekend) have posted notes stating that Martin Kerstein (GW2 community manager) has mentioned there that the next profession reveal will be this month (May).
So before the end of the month, we should know at least one of the two remaining professions.
